Hill Country Village reported three violent crimes in 2019 compared to none in 2018, causing the north Bexar County city's violent crime rate to jump.

The FBI released its Uniform Crime Report earlier this month. While the data shows other San Antonio-area cities reported more crime than Hill Country Village, its population of only 1,100 led for its crime rate to be higher.

The UCR complies the number of incidents of violent crime in cities, including homicide, rape, robbery and aggravated assault. The data also looks at the number of crimes per 100,000 residents.

Only eight cities out of nearly two dozen around San Antonio saw an increase in crime in 2019, including the Alamo City.

Most cities around San Antonio experienced a dip in crime. For example, Poteet, Leon Valley and La Vernia all saw major drops in crime, reducing their rate by 88, 59 and 50 incidents per 100,000 residents, respectively.
