CLEVELAND, Ohio - While new coronavirus case numbers have increased across the state in recent days, they have remained steady, even declining some, in Cuyahoga County.

Cuyahoga County has had 31.3 new cases per 100,000 people over the last seven days, compared with a rate of 63.4 cases per 100,000 for the other 87 counties combined, a review of data from the Ohio Department of Health health showed.

This trend has been developing over the last several weeks.

The reverse had been true.

Back on July 15, Cuyahoga had a 122 new cases over seven days per 100,000 residents, well above the rate of 72.9 cases for the rest of the state at that time.

But Cuyahoga County has been below the rest of the state for the rolling seven-day total every day since Aug. 20, with the gap widening.

A week ago, on Sept. 23, Cuyahoga County’s seven-day average was 33.7 and the rest of the state was 55.7 - a difference of 22 cases per 100,000. By Tuesday, the gap between Cuyahoga County and the rest of the state widened to 32.1.

For all 88 counties, including Cuyahoga, there have been 60 cases in the last week per 100,000 residents of Ohio.
