CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Active COVID-19 case numbers are below 7,000 for the first time in nearly four months, according to Monday’s virus report from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR).
The DHHR confirmed 6,997 active cases as of Monday. It’s the lowest total since 6,974 on November 8 and continues a seven-week trend of downward active case totals.
Hospitalizations are at their lowest total since October 26 with 225 as of Monday. 59 patients remain in the ICU.
The DHHR reported zero deaths over the past 24 hours on Monday’s report but confirmed 193 new cases. The death total remains at 2,300 statewide.
The daily positivity test rate 4.39%.
197,756 West Virginians have been fully vaccinated and 298,942 total first doses have been administered.
