COVID Case Climb Continues Over The Holiday Weekend - WHBL News

MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – New COVID-19 cases are on the decline after Friday’s 875 new cases were the most in nearly two months, while the seven-day average increased.

The Department of Health Services is reporting 584 new COVID-19 cases on Easter Sunday after 4,209 test results were processed.

While the new case numbers have been declining over the weekend, the seven-day new case average has continued to climb as it now sits at 589.

From Thursday to Sunday, the seven-day case average grew from 468 to 589.

The DHS is reporting no new deaths Sunday, and is retracting one death from the cumulative total which is now 6,639.

Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been 579,877 confirmed cases and over 2.74 million negative test results.

The DHS says 565,727 patients have recovered from COVID-19, or 98% of all confirmed cases.

Fully vaccinated residents Sunday reached just over 20% as the DHS reports 1,170,042 people have finished their series.

Just over 63% of Wisconsin residents 65 and older have been fully vaccinated.

The number of residents who have received at least one vaccination reached 1,922,804 people, or 33% of the state.
