REPORTS

ROBBERY, 2021-08190139, 900 block of N. Nelson Street. At approximately 4:16 p.m. on August 19, police were dispatched to the report of a fight. Upon arrival, it was determined that the male suspect entered into the business and attempted to purchase merchandise but did not have enough money to cover the cost. The suspect then left the business and returned a short time later, took merchandise off the shelf and attempted to leave without paying. A store employee attempted to prevent him from leaving and the suspect pushed and hit the employee before a brief struggle ensued. Arriving officers located the suspect on scene and detained him without incident. Roderick Bryant, 60, of Washington D.C. was arrested and charged with Petit Larceny, Assault & Battery, and Public Intoxication. He was held on no bond.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2021-08190167, 4200 block of Henderson Road. At approximately 6:58 p.m. on August 19, police were dispatched to the report of a dispute between known individuals. Upon arrival, it was determined that on August 17, the male victim and suspect became engaged in a verbal dispute which escalated when the suspect allegedly struck the victim multiple times. When the victim attempted to call 9-1-1, the suspect took the phone and broke it. Warrants for Malicious Wounding, Preventing a 9-1-1 call and Destruction of Property were obtained for the suspect.

ROBBERY, 2021-08200037, 3100 block of 13th Road S. At approximately 4:19 a.m. on August 20, police were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined that the four victims were traveling in two vehicles and meeting at this location. Upon parking their vehicles, the suspect approached in a third vehicle, exited and brandished a firearm. He approached the first vehicle and demanded a bag containing various personal items and electronics. He then approached the second vehicle but the victims were able to drive away. The suspect fled the scene with the stolen property in an older model grey Nissan Maxima. The suspect is described as a short, Black male wearing black ski mask and black clothing. A canvass of the area by responding officers concluded with negative results. The investigation is ongoing.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 2021-08190117, 4900 block of 10th Street S. At approximately 1:54 p.m. on August 19, police were dispatched to the late report of an attempted burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined that between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on August 18, a witness allegedly observed two unknown suspects on the victim’s property, attempting to gain entry to the residence through a back door. The suspects then fled the scene on foot. There are no suspect descriptions. The investigation is ongoing.

PEEPING, 2021-08190027, 4100 block of 3rd Road N. At approximately 2:40 a.m. on August 19, police were dispatched to the report of a peeping. Upon arrival, it was determined that the female victim was awoken to noise outside her window, observed a silhouette of a person and when she opened the blinds, she saw a person outside. There is no suspect description. The investigation is ongoing.
