REPORTS

ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT, 2021-08050103, Clarendon Boulevard at N. Barton Street. Just prior to 11:15 a.m. on August 5, officers were approached by the male victim who reported his cellphone had been stolen by the known suspect who was refusing to return it. The officers observed the suspect in the area and attempted to stop him to investigate the alleged larceny. The suspect refused to comply and continued walking in the opposite direction. The suspect then turned around and shoved one of the officers before turning and walking away. Additional officers arrived in the area and began attempting to detain him, however, he actively resisted and struck an officer in the head. The officer sustained minor injuries. With the assistance of additional officers, the suspect was detained, but continued to actively resist, kicked towards the officers and attempted to bite an officer. Maurio Johnson, 37, of Washington D.C., was arrested and charged with Assault & Battery on Police (x2). He was held on no bond.

BRANDISHING (late), 2021-08040041, 1300 block of S. Eads Street. At approximately 6:25 a.m. on August 4, police were dispatched to the late report of a brandishing. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 12:00 a.m., the female employee was alerted to a forced entry in an adjacent building. The employee went to investigate and observed the unknown male suspect and asked him to leave. When she advised that she was going to call the police, the suspect made verbal threats to shoot her. At approximately 5:45 a.m., the employee was alerted to a forced entry in the same adjacent building and upon investigating, confronted the same male suspect who then allegedly brandished a firearm. The employee stated she was calling the police and the suspect fled the scene. The suspect is described as a Black male with short hair, wearing a yellow hooded shirt, dark pants, flip flops and carrying a yellow bag. The investigation is ongoing.
