Crime victims and California District Attorneys, including Solano’s Krishna Abrams, have joined in a lawsuit to stop the early release of serious and violent felons from prisons and will hold a joint press conference Wednesday morning in Sacramento.

“Our priority is the public safety of our community and the constitutional rights of crime victims and the early release of dangerous offenders threatens the safety, security, and rights of those impacted by crime,” Abrams said in a press release issued late Tuesday afternoon.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s so-called “emergency” credits is shortening the sentence of thousands of inmates across California and releasing them much earlier than their imposed sentence, she added in the prepared statement.

Abrams will join some of her counterparts and crime victims at the press conference, set for 11:30 a.m. at the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office, 901 G St.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, space is limited; however, for those interested in attending, R.S.V.P. by 10 a.m. Wednesday to one of the following individuals:

For in-person attendance, email Shelly Orio at orios@sacda.org; for a Zoom link, email Kelli Reid at kelli.reid@mcnallytemple.com.

The Solano County District Attorney’s Office remains committed to assisting crime victims throughout this process, noted Abrams, adding that those needing assistance should contact the Solano County DA’s victim witness unit at784-6844.

For victims of crime that occurred in Solano County, she encouraged all to register with
