The Cattaraugus County Health Department reported 15 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday. The total of confirmed cases, since the county began tracking the pandemic in March 2020, is 4,850.
Ninety-two residents have died from complications of the disease; 16 residents are hospitalized because they have the disease; 4576 residents have recovered. The active case count is 182.
The southwest and northwest quadrants of the county had two new cases apiece; the northeast quadrant had six new cases, and the southeast quadrant had 5 new cases.Overall, the highest number/percentages of cases are in the southeast quadrant — 2,704 (55.8%). Case numbers and percentages for the other quadrants are: northeast, 834 (17.2%); southwest, 744 (15.3%) and northwest, 568 (11.7%).
Among those testing positive Saturday, seven are male and eight are female. Overall, 2,593 females (53.5%) and 2,257 males (46.5%) have tested positive in the county.
Also, among the new cases reported, seven individuals said they were aware of having been in contact with individuals who tested positive for COVID-19; the other eight said they were not aware of exposure. Overall, 2,140 cases (44.1%) reported known exposure, and 2,710 (53.9%) reported not knowing.
Twelve of the new cases reported experiencing symptoms of the disease, and three reported experiencing none. The record on April 3 shows 3,796 (78.3%)f cases as symptomatic, and 1,054 (21.7%) of cases as asymptomatic.
Western New York Region
The region, which includes Cattaraugus County, registered a 3.7% positivity rate on Friday. The seven-day positivity rate is 3.1%. Further information is available here.
