Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through August 30, 2021.
Burglary Conveyance
NW 105th Lane
On Aug. 29, deputies received a report that unknown suspects entered three vehicles. A firearm was taken from one of the vehicles. Tot. Est. Loss: $400.
Information
NW 61st Ter.
On Aug. 24, the reporting person got into a verbal dispute with their neighbor with who they have had issues in the past. No crime took place, and both neighbors were advised not to engage with each other.
NW 84th Ave.
On Aug. 25, a caller advised that the property owner is possibly dumping hazardous materials on the vacant lot. Information report completed and forwarded to Code Enforcement for follow-up.
NW 81st Pl.
On Aug. 26, deputies responded about threats being made via text message. Deputies later made contact with the person involved and her mother.
Waters Edge Ct.
On Aug. 29, people were operating a golf cart when the driver went too fast around a curve, flipping the golf cart. All parents/legal guardians were notified. Two citations were issued to the driver of the golf cart.
Suspicious Incident
NW 126th Ter.
On Aug. 26, the reporter stated that an unknown person with a southern accent called her phone and said she should go to the nearest Walmart because her daughter was kidnapped. The reporter stated she immediately hung up the phone and contacted law enforcement. The reporter stated that the same number called six more times, and she didn’t answer. While deputies were en route to the residence, the school administration confirmed that the children were safe at their schools. The reporter stated that at this time, she has no idea who made the call to her.
Theft
NW 79th Pl.
On Aug. 26, the victim stated that the suspect forged a check under her name for $8,000 and later cashed it out at a Citi bank nearby. Tot. Est. Loss: $8,000.
Blue Spring Dr.
On Aug. 26, deputies received a report that 20 rolls of roofing underlayment “Peel & Stick” was stolen from an unsecured construction site overnight. Tot. Est. Loss: $12,000.
Parkland Bay Dr.
Sometime between August 6th and August 26th, a large supply of lumber was stolen from a construction site. The total value is estimated at $6,225.
Traffic Offense
Riverside Dr.
On Aug. 26, a traffic stop was conducted about a failure to yield, dark tints, and driving with a learner’s permit. The vehicle was impounded from the scene.
