Alabama’s number of coronavirus cases grew by 283 in the last day, with more than 50 percent of that increase generated by 7 counties.
The May 4, 2020 9:30 a.m. data from the Alabama Department of Public Health shows the state has 7,898 COVID-19 cases with 292 deaths. The greatest numbers of deaths are in Mobile (63), followed by Jefferson (48), Lee (28), Chambers (21) and Tallapoosa (18).
More than 50 percent of the new cases were concentrated on a limited number of Alabama’s 67 counties. Seven counties accounted for 53 percent of all the case growth: Franklin (32); Montgomery (32); Jefferson (26); Mobile (25); Butler (13); Coffee (12); and Dallas (10).
