Amy Drive shooting

The Goose Police Department announced arrests following a shooting death on Monday, Sept. 27. Investigators said the victim died of the injuries two days later.

Police said one of the suspects, a juvenile, turned herself in at the Goose Creek Police Department. The juvenile was booked into the Charleston Department of Juvenile Justice on one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder.

Investigators said because a second suspect was considered armed and dangerous, The U.S. Marshal Service got involved. On Friday, Oct. 1, the United States Marshals located and apprehended the suspect and turned him over to the investigators from the Goose Creek Police Department.

The second suspect was identified as 22-year-old, Ashonti Pope. Pope was booked into the Berkeley County Detention Center on one count of murder and three counts of attempted murder.

Police said it was back no Sept. 27 just after 4 p.m. when officers responded to the area of Amy Drive and Delmont in reference to shots being fired. Upon arrival they located one male victim down, with a gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators from the Goose Creek Police Department Criminal Investigative Unit arrived on scene and began questioning witnesses. It was then possible suspects were identified, and investigators began gathering intelligence to determine their whereabouts.

Berkeley County Homicide

The Berkeley Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that happened on the evening of Oct. 3. Deputies said the fatal shooting happened on Northside Lane, which is a side street off of Old Back River Road. Deputies received a call in reference to a shooting just before 7:30 p.m. Deputies said they arrived on scene to discover a victim deceased. The Berkeley County Coroner Deputies and detectives continue to investigate. No new information on the incident was available before news time.

Dorchester County Arrest

Dorchester County deputies made an arrest following a shooting death of Monty McCray, that happened on March, 30. The incident happened at 527 Orangeburg Road.

On Oct. 5, deputies announced the arrest of 19-year-old, DeShawn Romanie Carter who was taken into custody by detectives. Deputies said in a statement, Carter has been charged with murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Carter is currently housed at the L C Knight Dorchester County Detention Center. Deputies said more charges are expected in the case.
