The following list includes recent reports from the Midland County Sheriff’s Office and the Midland Police Department. Compiled by reporter Mitchell Kukulka.
Tuesday, May 3
8:59 p.m. — A deputy was dispatched to the area of East Baker Road near North Waldo Road in reference to a caller reporting a tree had fallen over and was hanging over the roadway. The deputy located the tree and determined it was not an immediate hazard. Deputy requested the information/situation be turned over to the Road Commission.
8:25 p.m. — Officers responded to a vehicle crash in the area of North Saginaw Road and Eastman Avenue.
8:01 p.m. — Officers responded to a report of larceny in the 600 block of East Carpenter Road.
7:03 p.m. — A deputy made contact with a Lee Township woman who was refusing to allow her children to go to their father's house for his parental visit. The mother is claiming the father neglected to care for their 12- and 13-year-old daughters. A report is being sent to the Midland County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and the courts for review. The Department of Health and Human Services was also contacted. The children were not injured due to the neglect.
6:09 p.m. — A 64-year-old man reported his 44-year-old neighbor trespassed on his property. The complainant did not wish to pursue charges, and requested deputies contact the man and advise him to stay off his property. Deputies spoke to the neighbor, who agreed to stay off of the property.
5:47 p.m. — Deputies assisted the Michigan State Police (MSP) with a disorderly woman in Jerome Township.
5:05 p.m. — Deputies backed up an MSP trooper while they were on a traffic stop and investigating a possible intoxicated driver.
2:36 p.m. — A 74-year-old Lee Township woman reported the theft of a bird bath valued at $25. The incident is being investigated.
12:46 p.m. — Officers responded to a vehicle crash in the 2600 block of Abbott Road.
11:55 a.m. — A 67-year-old Warren Township man reported that his $20 mailbox was damaged. The mailbox was bent out of shape but was able to be bent mostly back into shape and ultimately only sustained minor cosmetic damage.
