Brevard registered one new coronavirus case, for a total of 428 people testing positive since the pandemic began, according to Wednesday morning's state Department of Health data.

There were no new deaths, according to the FDOH.

On Tuesday, Brevard County Commissioner Curt Smith told FLORIDA TODAY: "Last week, we added 26 additional cases. Epidemiology staff continues to interview, investigate, and conduct contact tracing for all positive cases."

According to the DOH reports, here's the breakdown of the 26 confirmed COVID-19 cases in one week:

The latest death, reported Monday, was a 71-year-old female. Her case was not travel-related, and it was unknown whether she had contact with a confirmed case, FDOH data shows. She was a Florida resident and her case was counted May 14. In all, Brevard has lost 13 people to the coronavirus, and victims ranged in age from 71 to 94 years old.

The FDOH always cautions that its data is provisional and subject to change.
