ROCK COUNTY, Wis. (WIFR) - A 32-year-old Roscoe man was charged with robbery while armed following a crime spree in Rock County.
On June 8, between the hours of 4:23 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., the Rock County Sheriff’s Office was sent to several criminal incidents spanning from the Town of Bradford to the Town of Magnolia. The crime spree ended when 32-year-old Bryan R. Burns of Roscoe was taken into custody by Rock County and Winnebago County officers near the Wisconsin Stateline in Winnebago County.
Burns was taken to a local medical facility for non-life threatening injuries sustained during his crime spree, according to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
At 4:23 p.m., on June 8, Rock County Sheriff’s officers were sent to a hit and run complaint at S STH 140 and Larsen Road in the Town of Bradford involving a white Chevrolet Suburban, which was reported stolen out of Genoa City earlier in the day. The vehicle left the scene at a high rate of speed.
At 6:31 p.m., officers were sent to a crash at W STH 81 and S CTH K in the Town of Newark, where a witness stated the driver of one of the vehicles had stolen a red Toyota Tacoma from a good Samaritan who had stopped to render aid at the crash scene, according to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
At the same time of this crash, officers received a belated call of an unwanted person at a residence on N STH 104 in the Town of Magnolia. Officers discovered the vehicle involved in the crash at W STH 81 and S CTH K had been stolen from this residence on N STH 104.
Officers were called to the residence N STH 104 and found the suspect forced entry to the residence by discharging a shotgun into the locking mechanism. Burns ultimately assaulted two occupants of the residence prior to stealing their vehicle. Deputies also discovered another vehicle at this address that had been stolen from an address that had been burglarized on W CTH A in the Town of Magnolia.
At 7:53 p.m., the Toyota Tacoma stolen from the W STH 81 crash was located in a ditch at W State Line Rd. and S Nelson Rd. in Winnebago County. The suspect, Bryan Robert Burns, was found in a marshy area near the crash scene by Rock County and Winnebago County deputies.
Burns was then taken to a local medical facility where he was arrested on a charge of robbery while armed in violation of Wisconsin State Statute 943.32(2). Additional charges are expected upon the conclusion of this investigation. Burns’ initial court appearance is yet to be determined, according to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
