Here are updates about coronavirus cases in Brevard, according to the Florida Department of Health, as of May 20, 2020.

Brevard registered 1 new case of the coronavirus Wednesday, according to the latest Florida Department of Health data, for a total of 372 people testing positive for COVID-19.

The latest death was recorded Monday, an 80-year-old female whose COVID-19 case was registered May 5, FDOH data show. Altogether, Brevard has lost 11 people due to coronavirus.

Here are the ages and gender of those who died of COVID-19 in Brevard, according to FDOH data:

• 74-year-old male

• 94-year-old male

• 76-year-old female

• 91-year-old female

• 84-year-old male

• two 73-year-old females

• 77-year-old female

• two 79-year-old males

• 80-year-old female

The state's database showed Space Coast cases at 361 for residents, and 11 non-residents. Those diagnosed ranged in age from 1 to 99, with a median age 58.

Of Brevard residents diagnosed with COVID-19, 171 are male and 190 female. The racial breakdown of cases was: 266 white; 56 black; 17 "other" and 22 unknown. Of those infected, 57 are Hispanic.

With 17,513 tests performed here, 372 tested positive for COVID-19 and 17,133 tested negative, or 2.1% testing positive.

As of Wednesday morning, Brevard data shows 53 hospitalizations, though previous FDOH data showed 54 hospitalizations. That doesn't mean the current number hospitalized; it refers to the total number of COVID-19 patients who at some point required hospitalization.

Among the places visited by those diagnosed in Brevard County and whose cases are travel-related are: New York, Haiti, Utah, Canada, Washington, D.C., United Kingdom, Indiana, Pennsylvania and the Dominican Republic.

In Florida, there were 527 new cases reported for a total of 47,471 COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday morning. FDOH reported 44 new deaths Wednesday for a total of 2,096 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic. FDOH data also shows 8,681 hospitalizations since the beginning of the pandemic. There have been 772,669 total tests in Florida, with a 6.1% positive rate.
