Police make arrest for aggravated assault

ROYAL OAK — At approximately 4:50 p.m. May 20, Royal Oak police responded to Woodward Avenue and 11 Mile Road on a report of an altercation on a Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation bus. 

The driver stated that a male passenger punched a female passenger several times while they were on the bus, then exited the bus and was last seen walking northbound on Woodward. The victim was transported to the hospital for a laceration to the face and received stitches, according to the police report.

Officers spoke to several witnesses on the bus and quickly located the suspect. They identified him as a 28-year-old Detroit resident and arrested him for aggravated assault, according to the police report.

Police arrest suspect who allegedly stole cashier’s purse

ROYAL OAK — At approximately 7:45 p.m. May 11, a cashier reported that an unknown male customer took her purse from underneath her cash register, placed it in his shopping cart and left Hollywood Market, 714 N. Main St., south of Gardenia Avenue.

At approximately 12:34 p.m. May 18, police responded to Hollywood Market regarding a subject who matched the description of the suspect who had stolen the cashier’s purse. Police officers identified the subject as a 38-year-old Royal Oak resident who had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest.

Officers arrested the man on the warrant and also discovered that he was in possession of suspected stolen credit cards. Police are investigating the matter further in an attempt to obtain additional larceny-related charges against the suspect, according to the police report.

Police make arrest for graffiti

ROYAL OAK — At approximately 9:32 p.m. May 17, a caller reported observing a suspect who was possibly spray-painting on the roof of Urbane Apartments, 310 W. Sixth St., west of South Washington Avenue.

Responding police officers observed the suspect with spray cans in his backpack. The suspect admitted to spraying graffiti, and officers arrested him, according to the police report.

Retail fraud suspect arrested at Meijer

ROYAL OAK — At approximately 1 p.m. May 17, Royal Oak police responded to a report of an unknown male suspect who allegedly stole merchandise and was confronted by store security at Meijer, 5150 Coolidge Highway, north of 14 Mile Road. Police officers arrested the suspect, according to the police report.

Catalytic converter stolen from vehicle

ROYAL OAK — A complainant reported that sometime between 2 p.m. May 12 and 10:40 a.m. May 16, an unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from her vehicle, which was parked in the 1100 block of Butternut Avenue, near 13 Mile and Crooks roads.

Police take numerous pilfered package reports

ROYAL OAK — From 11:30 a.m. April 17 to 7 p.m. May 18, Royal Oak police took reports from four complainants who reported that unknown suspects had stolen delivered packages.

The reported thefts took place in the 3100 block of Merrill Avenue, near Woodward Avenue and 13 Mile Road; the 2900 block of Elmhurst Avenue, near 13 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue; the 2200 block of North Wilson Avenue, near North Campbell and 12 Mile roads; and the 800 block of North Main Street, south of Catalpa Drive.

Company vehicle reported stolen

ROYAL OAK — A complainant reported that sometime between 3 p.m. April 10 and 11 a.m. May 14, an unknown suspect had stolen a company vehicle after a business — located in the 4900 block of Leafdale Boulevard, near 14 Mile Road and Coolidge Highway — relocated to another state.
