Davies offers detailed breakdown of cases to date
Dare County announced one new case of COVID-19 as Department of Health and Human Services Director Sheila Davies provided the most detailed breakdown to date of the cases reported to the county in a June 2 video.
The new case brings to 23 the total number of cases reported in Dare County. The latest infected individual is non-resident who acquired the virus from direct contact with a family member. The person, according to Davies, is asymptomatic and is isolating in his or her home county.
According to new data available on the county website, https://www.darenc.com/departments/health-human-services/coronavirus of the 23 Dare cases to date, 18 involved residents and 5 were non-residents. Of the 18 residents, 15 have recovered or are asymptomatically cleared, 1 is dead, and 2 are active cases, with one of those individuals still hospitalized. Of the 5 non-residents, all have recovered or been cleared, other than the newest case.
In addition, the new breakdown of data reveals that of the 23 cases, 9 have involved men and 14 have involved women. Broken down by age group, 1 infected person was between the ages of 18-24; another 8 were between the ages of 25-49; another 7 were between 50 and 64 years of age; and 7 were 65 and older.
In addition, Davies provided an update on the 179 COVID-19 tests administered on May 26 in the county’s first drive-thru testing event. (A second one is occurring on June 2). And the news was good. Of the 179 tests, 177 were negative for the virus and 2 were deemed invalid.
