An additional 953 coronavirus cases have been reported by the state health department Saturday, bringing the state's total to 96,024.
Saturday's case report includes some cases that would have been included in Friday's report, which was affected by a technical problem. A large number of lab messages were improperly formatted, and therefore could not be processed accordingly in time to be included in Friday's report, impacting Saturday's report.
The daily case counts reported over the next few days are expected to be higher than they would otherwise be as officials enter Friday's data, according to the state health department.
Michigan's death toll also increased Saturday, with 11 new deaths reported, eight of which were identified in the health department's review of death certificates. This brings the Michigan to 6,389 deaths since the first COVID-19 death was reported in March.
