The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office and a Minnesota State Patrol helicopter conducted a search for three hours Thursday afternoon after a deputy spotted a person wanted on a warrant in Salem Township.

The deputy was on patrol about 2:30 p.m. in the area of Weatherhill Road Southwest at 60th Avenue Southwest when he saw a northbound vehicle driven by who he believed was Andrew Gustafson, according to Olmsted County Sheriff's Capt. Scott Behrns. Gustafson, 30, is wanted on two felony warrants in Olmsted County.

The vehicle sped off and the deputy was unable to catch it. About 3 p.m., a resident in the 200 block of 63rd Avenue Southwest called to report a person driving on the road at a very high rate of speed, Behrns said. A perimeter was set up in that area and an area search was conducted. The vehicle Gustafson was believed to have been driving was found, but not Gustafson.

More than a dozen members of law enforcement and two dogs were used to do a ground search. A Minnesota State Patrol helicopter also assisted in searching the heavily wooded area from above.

A stolen vehicle was located by law enforcement while they were searching.

A 45-year-old Rochester man is out $445 after falling prey to a sophisticated shipping scam, according to Rochester police.

Police said the man responded to an ad on Craigslist for a piano. The seller identified herself as a doctor living in the Twin Cities and the piano reportedly belonged to her recently deceased husband.

The woman did not want money for the piano and said it was already packed and being moved out and all the man had to do was contact the shipping company. The man followed a link the woman sent, which appeared to have taken him to a reputable website. Unfortunately, scammers had spoofed a legitimate website and the live chat screen the man interacted with was not real.

The man submitted a payment of $445 through the app Zelle to the company. He realized it was a scam after the company said there was an error with the transaction and that they'd refund the money for him to then send again. The man called the company and learned this was not the first time this scam had been done using their name.
